Meet Venus – Professionally Trained PTSD & Anxiety Service Dog Available for Placement
Meet Venus! This beautiful, intelligent, and exceptionally capable girl is looking for her perfect match. Venus is a small, athletic Belgian Malinois and Border Collie mix with an amazing personality. Despite her athletic abilities and intelligence, she has a wonderfully sweet, calm, and easygoing temperament.
Venus has been raised around a wide variety of animals and people, including cats, dogs, rabbits, children, and horses. She is well-socialized, adaptable, and comfortable in many different environments.
Professionally Trained Psychiatric Service Dog
Venus has successfully passed her service dog evaluations and is trained and certified for psychiatric service work, including assistance with:
- PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder)
- Anxiety
- Anxiety and panic attacks
She is exceptionally good at performing her trained service tasks and has demonstrated an outstanding ability to learn, retain, and perform her training.
Her education includes extensive basic and advanced obedience, socialization, appropriate public behavior, manners, boundaries, and working reliably around distractions.
Venus has completed the training and testing associated with the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program, which evaluates obedience, manners, and appropriate behavior around people and other dogs.
She has also completed psychiatric service dog training and testing, which includes navigating a variety of public environments, remaining calm and unobtrusive, and learning to be what service dog handlers often call "invisible." This means being able to accompany her handler in public while remaining focused, quiet, and minimally distracting to others.
Additional Advanced Training
Venus is also being introduced to personal protection training. As with her other training, she has shown an exceptional ability to learn and excel.
She will continue this training before being placed with her new handler.
Personalized Matching & Handler Training
Finding the right service dog is about more than finding a well-trained dog. It's about finding the right partnership.
When Venus is matched with her new person, I will work with them personally to ensure they understand her training, abilities, commands, and everything she has learned. My goal is to make the transition as smooth as possible and help establish a successful, lasting partnership.
